When it's time for the old deck to go
Decks that have rotted, sagged or become slippery and unsafe are often beyond saving. Sometimes you simply want the space back for a lawn or a patio. Either way, taking a deck up properly is heavy, messy work, and leaving old posts and rotten timber behind causes problems later.
What our decking removal includes
- Lifting all deck boards, timber or composite
- Dismantling the frame, joists and bearers
- Digging out or cutting back old posts and concrete footings where needed
- Removing old steps, handrails, balustrades and pergolas
- Clearing old weed membrane, gravel and debris
- Taking the waste away as a registered waste carrier, so you're not left with a pile of rotten timber
- Leaving the ground level and tidy, ready for the next job
Removal plus what comes next
Most customers have the old deck removed and something new put in its place in one job, with one team. We can take up an old deck and build a new composite deck or timber deck on a proper new frame, or prepare the ground and lay new turf. Doing both together saves time and avoids paying for the ground to be prepared twice.
We check what's underneath
Once an old deck is up, you can see what has been hiding under it. We've found leaking pipes and rotten posts set in concrete. We'll show you anything we find and talk through the options before going further.
